Measuring Your Belt Size
The best way to measure for your belt is to measure an existing belt that already fits you well.
How to measure a well-fitting existing belt:
Lay the belt flat, and measure from the hole you use most often to the spot where the strap wraps around the buckle. That distance (rounded to the nearest inch) is your ideal belt size.
Measure from the point shown in the picture below:
Measure to the center of the belt hole you use the most as shown in the picture below:
If you don’t have a belt to measure, measure your body directly:
Thread a cloth measuring tape through your pants’ belt loops at the level you wear your belt (waist or hips). Stand normally without holding in or pushing out. Use a snug measurement, then round to the nearest inch or quarter inch.
Use the middle hole as your fit target:
For the most versatile fit, the belt should fasten on the middle hole. This provides flexibility if your size fluctuates up or down.
Pant size rule as a fallback, but verify carefully:
A common guideline is to add 2″ to your pant size. For example, a 34″ waist suggests a 36″ belt. That said, brand sizing varies, so this should only be used if better measurement methods aren’t available.
